Newborns

I prefer to photograph newborns within the first 4-10 days of life. It's much easier to pose them and get those cute curled up shots while they're still really flexible and really sleepy. It's important to schedule your session while you're pregnant. I know that almost no baby comes on their due date, but at least we can get you on the schedule, and I can be flexible.

Here are a few suggestions to help you prepare and assist in the session going as smoothly as possible:

- When diapering your baby before you come, put the diaper on loosely so we don't have the red marks on their sensitive little skin.
- Dress your baby lightly, in a simple onesie, so we don't disturb them too much taking them out of the carseat.
- If they take a pacifier, please bring it. It can help to soothe an unsettled baby during posing.
- Bring a bottle with breastmilk or formula (This saves a lot of time if we can just feed them a bottle rather than nursing)
-Also, bring plenty of wipes, diapers, burp cloths, an extra blanket and an extra set of clothes.
- If you would like to be in a photo with the baby, please bring a long sleeved black shirt.

I keep the babies naked during the shoot. Don't worry about them getting chilly...TRUST ME..You'll be sweating in the studio. I keep it very comfortable for the baby. Also, please don't stress out about them peeing or pooping on my props. It happens almost every time, without fail. All of my items are washable.

Children

The best time to photograph babies is around 6-8 months old. This is the age when they begin to sit on their own, but are not yet crawling and can get away from me! They are usually really smiley and content at this age.

The next most popular age is One Year olds. This age is a little more challenging, because they can get around by themselves usually, and "stranger danger" is setting in. This is when their little personalities really start to shine through, and I can capture some GREAT shots at this stage.

I have TONS of cute hats, flowers/headbands and Lots of various other props. Please feel free to bring anything you have as well.

I try to schedule these sessions either early morning, or after naptime. You know your child best, so we can work together on determing when their "happy" time is. Please don't bring a a hungry, sick or tired child...It's almost impossible to great shots out of a grumpy baby. I'm happy reschedule, even if it's last minute, if your baby is having a bad day.

Checklist:
-A couple of cute outfits
-Any cute accessories (ie. hats, headbands, ties, bows, vests, tutu's, glasses, boots etc.)
-A small snack and/or drink (sometimes they need a little break)
-A favorite toy (something that can make them smile when they see it)
-A favorite blanket/doll/ or stuffed animal (something familiar to them)

Family

Think about what it is that you "OOO and AHH" over when you see other people's pictures. Be yourselves!! I know this can be hard to do when you've never met someone before, but I make a point to spend a few minutes before each session getting to know you and more importantly, you getting to know me! And as for the most asked question: "What should we wear?"...
-Pick a common color tone, but be creative! Don't show up in all black, or all white :o)
-Try not to be too matchy matchy with your clothing. Instead, try to find items that compliment each other.
-Layer your clothes. Find things that will add different textures.
-Accessories, such as headbands, scarfs, jewelry, jackets & hats can really add to your look.
-Avoid clothing with large logos and busy patterns that will distract from the overall picture.
-Color!! Splashes of color really make your photos pop~

Boudoir

My goal with boudoir photography is to capture your true beauty! I keep my boudoir sessions as classy as possible. I want the images to be something that you wouldn't be embarrassed to show your children or your mother. It's important to me for you to feel comfortable in front of the camera, as well as in front of me. I'm very conscious of taking the photos at an angle that is most flattering for you and/or your body type. With that being said, here is a list of things to consider for your session:

- Dress in something light weight, even a robe, before I show up.
- Wear your makeup a little heavier than normal, unless you are going for an au naturale look
- I recommed false eyelashes as they really add more of a dramatic look to your photos
- I also suggest a spray tan. It helps give a more consistent tone to your skin.
- 2 to 3 changes of "outfits"
- Accessories, such as jewelry, thigh highs and/or fish net stalkings, Stillettos, Hats, Ties and if you're doing them for your man, something of his or something from a hobby he is into...
